After an evaluation has been conducted by the child’s school district, parents/guardians have the right to request an independent educational evaluation (IEE) if they disagree with the results of the district’s evaluation. The IEE must be provided at the district’s expense. As an experienced evaluator in the public schools, Dr. Renken is experienced and knowledgeable in regards to what evaluation instruments and criteria are used by districts to make eligibility determinations, and will work with the district to obtain information from teachers and school staff to include in the evaluation report. This is an important component that school evaluations include and outside providers typically do not. Due to a conflict of interest, Dr. Renken is not able to evaluate school-aged individuals that reside or attend private school in Northside Independent School District.
